International Journal of Mycobacteriology, a publication of Asian African Society of Mycobacteriology, is a peer-reviewed online journal with Quarterly  print on demand compilation of issues published. The journal’s full text is available online at http://www.ijmyco.org. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository.

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

The Journal will cover Basic and clinical studies related to health, ethical and social issues in field of Clinical and Epidemiological studies of Mycobacterial infection, Microbiology of mycobacterium, Epidemiology of mycobacterium, Molecular biology of mycobacterium, Clinical features of mycobacterium. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.

The “Asian -African Society of Mycobacteriology” (AASM) is a non-profit, scientific organization with a mission to foster unilateral, bilateral, multilateral networks of scientific, research and training collaborations among experts from AASM countries (http://theaasm.org).

The AASM is committed to:

  • Establish a network of laboratories with the objective of enhancing quality control and quality assurance of mycobacteriology within the inter- and intra-regions in AASM countries.
  • PROMOTE the advancement of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Mycobacterial diseases.
  • Review and participate in the development of new-diagnostic tests and kits for the rapid detection of mycobacterium.
  • Collaborate and participate in the introduction of new drug(s) and design protocols for the treatment of mycobacterial diseases.
  • Invest and collaborate with laboratories whose activities are directed towards research and development of new vaccines for tuberculosis and other mycobacterial diseases.
  • Facilitate exchange of ideas and information through scientific meetings and publications.
  • Promote inter- and intra-regional cooperation aimed at the prevention of mycobacterial diseases within AASM countries.
  • Promote M.D, PhD and specialist training programmes within the AASM countries and in collaboration with other established universitiesthroughout the world.
  • Secure funding for researcher(s) in the development of new diagnostic kits and procedures.
  • Facilitate and promote research on mycobacterial diseases for outstanding researchers
  • Advise, collaborate and participate with governmental and non-governmental agencies in matters of common interest.
  • Establish and maintain close linkages with international agencies involved in the prevention of mycobacterial diseases worldwide ( e.g., WHO, CDC,ASM,IUATLD,. etc).
  • Raise funds and seek donations to support activities in the prevention of mycobacterial diseases
